LED Wall Clock Uses

We have all seen the clocks with the large bright red -- or green or, rarely, blue -- numbers... we often refer to these clocks as digital clocks since they have an electronic time keeping mechanism in place rather than a a mechanical one; and they use illuminated cyphers to represent the time rather than the traditional hour and minute hands that travel around a clock face. These digital clocks have been in existence since the very early 1970s when a company called Hamilton created the first watch that used the light emitting diode (LED) technology that would revolutionize the clock making industry over the next 30 years. For their time, these clocks and watches were a paradigm of the technology available and in turn helped create a brand new market place for the world of time keeping devices -- additionally, the science involved with LED watches and clocks inspired many to think outside the box and technology moved at a rapid pace over the next several decades. One of the most common inventions that came from incorporating this light emitting technology in to time pieces is the LED wall clock.

These clocks are used across numerous applications and are as commonplace nowadays as their traditional mechanical counterparts with a clock face and hands. As such, the LED wall clock enjoys a coveted place in many locales where traditional clocks once stood. For example, because of their ability to give a person an accurate time with a simple, quick glance, LED clocks are quite often used in venues such as schools, hospitals, military institutions, airports and as digital timers such as stopwatches and counters. Too, with the advent of LED applications in time pieces, digital clocks are often found in cell phones, on TVs, ovens and microwaves, and are the standard in automobile clocks.

As you can see, with the invention of LED technology, the ability for clock manufacturers to expand their business exponentially was also obtained. To this day, the most common use for a time piece which uses digital technology is still the LED wall clock. All you have to do is look around in order to notice this to be true.
